Have - somehow having missed this - only very recently come across Nighy-Glenister-Simm-Warren et al show.

Available for about £4 on DVD, or illegally it is said via torrent, or on YouTube.

My wife and I watched this a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There's an american movie remake with Ben Affleck as the politician and Russell Crowe as the journo, Helen Mirren as the editor. Its not bad at all, but TV original was superior. Probably worth seeing if you enjoyed the TV series.

Another good BBC political thriller with the (as usual) superb Jason Isaacs, who most people only seem to think of as villainous Malfoy senior in Potter movies.
