Even if you had the right equipment who wants to change the record 8 times to hear a symphony?

Sorry I missed this.

I agree big symphonic works are a pain, and as for opera, why bother with that even on lp. But smaller chamber works with a movement per side , lieder, small piano works, can have a real charm. And decent fidelity too with the right playback kit

I was listening to some 1924 issue lieder on 78 the other night. It's quite a wonder to play a 90 year old artefact on a modern system.

I find myself listening to the same track 3-4 times this generates an intensity of response I haven't felt for years.

Don't knock it till you've tried it!
