80 watts enough?

is 80 watts enough to drive me spendors ? not so good with the technical blurb ,impendence ,ohms and all that cack...

At 90 db with 8ohms dipping to 6ohms i'd say yes but more watts would mean more control. What you found then big fella

The Densen will drive spendors no problem. 80 watts is plenty for most speakers. Even Dyns.

using some 12 yr old audiolab mono,s , and as other members are aware our friend duvet especially, i,m looking for a bit more snap and attack and grunt and .. or fuck it you get the picture.. listening to ..nine inch nails ,with teeth, today (superb album BTW) and its stonkingly produced but i just wanted it to junp at me little bit more ...

Naim dude. Densen will help and look the bollocks. Naim is the way to go for that though. As i said before Naim and Densen together might just be the thing.

My bet, inject some Naim first, in the CD player department. Then try either Naim, Densen or Exposure amps.

If it still aint rocking hard enough for you save up for some ARC's.

Krell KAV300i or KAV400xi? No problems with power at all and all the attack you could want. Built like a tank too.

... and there's always Naim... 202/200 can be had for less than 2k....

Wasn't it someone on here who said the Spendors were voiced using Naim kit? I can believe it as well - I once heard Spendor S6e's on the end of an all Naim system... very nice indeed

Lots of Naim/Spendor owners over on the Naim forum (obviously). Great synergy, it would seem.

Even the old Densen Beat 100 at 60w would easily drive those spendors, I had one driving some Revels (87db down to 3ohms) comfortably. Their B400 is also very nice especially at that price.

It's not just about watts, but the sort of sound you're after: all of the above will give PRaT in abundance. Listen & see what floats your boat. And like I said in the other thread: Audiolab are an excitement-free zone, IME.

as the man says. Don't worry too much about the power. It's the presentation that counts. Listen to Naim, Exposure, Densen, Krell.. thay will have a big difference in sound to the audiolabs, and a fair difference between each other.
