Somewhat convoluted in its setup, and certainly imperfect in its execution, but this is the future once the likes of Spotify integrate this sort of AI.

I'm an enthusiastic streamer, but that's not in my future, thanks!

Trying to convince a bloody AI to do what I want is the stuff of nightmares to me. The ultimate in frustration.
It's straight out the window.

Can't Alexa do this sort of thing already?

Anyway, playlists and serious classical music listening are irrelevant to each other.

For me, not a chance, I don't use Alexa or any of that nonsense. I have no interest in ' talking ' to a computer.

Very much an album only player myself but I thought the video was an interesting look at the potential this sort of AI has for music streaming, and entertainment in general. Done properly, this could have a lot of appeal, but clearly not to most audiophiles.

Not something that I have not seen before really . But its only use with Roon (and this clever software then needs the assistance of god old plex) which is in my view very costly does mean that it will get ignored by many . It would be really informative how many users have items that are roon ready but do not use roon . Suspect it may well be lots .

Not interested in Roon. I have a Bluesound Node that is Roon ready but I would still need a computer or a Roon core, which costs loads of money. Roon would add nothing to my streaming and costs loads of money.

Actually I find AI (ChatGPT) quite useful in discovering music. For example I did this the other day: "give me 10 musical pieces of the early 18th century from Bavaria". I then changed 'Bavaria' to 'North Italy' and then 'England'. Extraordinary what it came up with, lots of obvious stuff as well as interesting pieces to listen to.

Darko I think got mostly caught up with the tech side of things esp. creating automatic playlists.

Playlists. I love them.
If you don't, maybe it's because your 'fixed' in your ways. :)
I listen to music from morning to night. Over the years I have amassed record collections & sold them. Cds too.
I love a vast selection of music from listening for 55yrs. Instead of listening to fillers I have put great care into compiling playlists. Compiled from having a passion for music and an ear for tunes I like, that will bounce off each other when played.
This is more often than not, a tighter selection than if I chose an album.
I don't like change, but to listen to the chosen music of my lifetime, played randomly like a 'personal' radio...is where it's at imo. ;)

+1 for playlists. Off the top of my head, I cant think of any album I like every track on it. So being able to skip tracks is also a plus imo. Why listen to stuff you know you don't like.

There's only 1 album I can think of with a track I really don't like. With all the other albums, the tracks I like least make me like the other tracks more. Otherwise its a bit like trying to fish the bits of celery out of your casserole.

To not have Roon Ready or Roon Tested status hurts hardware sales. Not sure about Munich but it was noted that at AXPONA virtually everybody who demoed streaming did so via Roon. Even Roon's main competition in hardware based streaming solutions include Roon capability because to not do so would be damaging to them. I think that to have Roon capable gear and not use Roon is less a rejection of the software and more the fact that love or hate it, most gear will include it just to have that box ticked in the marketing wars.

+1.. Can tweak the sound, organise my library in a nice fashion, know the server is solid, without additional costs.
Think the cost of a reasonably good player should maybe provide this these days.

I love playlists, vinyl albums, streaming albums, CD albums, even singles.

But no, no, no. I don't want AI telling me what to listen to. I don't trust it not to pick the obvious and miss the choice nuggets those 'in the know' would throw in: the human, the flawed, the flawed brilliance, the unusual, the little known gem etc.

Reading the ChatGPT replies on forums scares me: it churns out standardised replies, and misses any emotion, humanity, individuality or subtlety. It's a poor aggregate of a contrived hive mind.

AI scares the living daylights out of me.

My last job before retiring was transcriptions of (mostly) TV interviews. One job I was asked to work with some AI auto transcription software. It was useless: not being able to understand accents, dialect, inflection or any variance from a norm. It was simply twice as fast to start from scratch, transcribe the whole thing from the original audio, than try and patch the mess the software churned out.

I'm with the AI pioneers who are now warning of the dangers. I don't think this is going to end well.

Right, where's my tin foil hat 😩😭

None of my gear is "Roon ready". My "playlist" is dynamically chosen depending on what I can find on the shelf. The only "software" is what reads the CD and controls the LCD on the player. I like to think that I am "free".
