I'm flummoxed. The speakers look like Living Voice R25s, but whatever they are, there aren't wires there for external crossovers. Too small for subs, and you wouldn't have a sub up in the air like that anyway, plus there's no high or low-level cables to them. In fact, there only seem to be mains cables to them.

A pair of wi-fi auxillary speakers? Some weird Peter Belt atmosperic devices? Goblin teasmades with the top parts removed?

No idea frankly. The stands need dusting though.

Perhaps they are devices that absorb unwanted vibrations emitting from the speaker cabinets. A dowser was used to determine the optimal height.

They do line up with the tweeters so must be related to those.

They are placed to the side of the speaker cabinet. Are they intended to record the sound to the side of it so that the effect of reflections from side walls can be predicted?

Not sure about 'record', but I suspect some sort of active acoustic treatment device. Possibly it acts to cancel out some frequencies and elminate some room reflections.

Either that, or it emits quantums.
