My speakers are a shade under 6ohms, are rated at 120w and 92db.

They seem to run very well on my A1000......which is 50w at 8ohms

Should I worry?????

Shouldn't be a problem.

But if you do ever have something go wrong with it; do not send it back to MF; otherwise you'll be stitched up like a kipper!

It's class A isn't it? If it's as hot as the weather forcast says it will be tomorrow; you may need to open a window or two...

its at mf......cos they did'nt do the job right last time. next time it will go to js
Sorry to hear that. :(

They charged me a fortune to replace an out of guarantee failed transformer in my amp a few years ago.

I hope that it's fully sorted out when you get it back.

Thanks. bought it from a really nice guy on eBay, manual, box. he then told me it had a receipt from mf to service and sort an unhappy channel, of which in the package. He had it fixed in nov, and then put it away to sell. when I got it I ran it carefully for around 3hours approx 3 times, then a 4 hour listening test with Steve MVJ. the day after the right channel was buzzing when i switched it on. I messaged the guy and asked him what they did on it. He rang me really upset and said he would have a word with mf. they said f*ck off you will have to pay for it fixing as you are out of your repair warranty as he had it sat from nov till last month. He then said he would pay for it to be fixed, if I would like to re buy, which I would....and thats where we are now.

They don't give much warranty on repairs then. :x

Hopefully it's all sorted to everyone's satisfaction. Nice to hear a happy eBay story.

I believe there was once an add in a well known hifi mag by js, which was next to an mf add saying "no one else is authorised to repair or upgrade mf products"

Someone has to do it......

What in the name of all that's holy does 'authorised' mean?

If it's out of warranty then you've got no obligation to return it to the manufacturer. And I wouldn't anyway. JS Audio, from experience, are superb and JS knows his way round MF products better than anyone.

Hi Craig

IMHO the 5 ohm shouldnt be an issue would mainly cause the A1000 to run a little hotter than normal. When I say normal I've been told that the op amps are good up to 95 deg plus, and my A1000 ran happily connected up to my multi driver setup at less than 60 deg

As a little side I have a A1000 here, brought to me to look at not working, its in a sorry state, blown transformers boiled reservoir capacitors, blown bridges completely blown apart 50w resistors, powerswitch missing, and the source selector pot has had a grove worn into the shaft so the selection of sources is a little slack. Needless to say its going to be too rich for the guy to get it repaired, maybe i'll save it myself.
