Aaron integrated amps - any thoughts?

A fellow wammer recently mentioned Aaron integrated amps to me.

A bit of internet research has got me interested.

But it looks like the only option is to buy direct and blind from Germany.

So, looking for some more experience before I take a leap of faith.

Anyone tried one?

Thoughts?

I recall that someone, now ex of this parish, had one. T'was Frank "effem", who now resides elsewhere. He seemed to think it was pretty good but not very special, iirc. You used to be able to get them "ex dem" on eBay auction but I've not seen that for quite a while.

I guess it all depends on the price - my guess is you can get better for your money if you buy used.

Funnily enough there's one come up for sale on German eBay and while I am very tempted, not sure what is a good price. Think I might wait till I find out a bit more

I have an Aaron No 3 Millenium power amp - quite "fast" and with decent grunt. Sounds a lot tighter (esp. in bass) than my old Quad 405. Don't believe the adverts about power doubling as you halve speaker impedance though - they only quote pulse measurements, not continuous - but for normal use there is plenty of power. I drove a pair of Quad 989s with it and was very pleased with the combination.

Cheers Dave. Appreciate the offer - will see if I travel in your direction anytime soon.

I dont need too much power - so the power claims dont bother me - more interested in the sound, since I will be comparing it with something like a Sonneteer Orton

I haven't heard an Orton, but the Aaron is certainly very detailed. My Morgan Deva 600 sounds softer, more mellow. Don't think I've done any more direct comparisons with it.
