Alright lads!

I really need some advice on this one.

Just over a week ago, I added a little Velodyne subwoofer to my system, the SPL800 Ultra.

I've been messing about with placement for a week now and the best I can get is along the side wall, just in front of my right speaker. I can't really hear much from the sub, it only sounds really right when I stand up! The bass seems to be up in the ceiling!

My room is a converted garage, it's 5m long, 3m wide and 2.7m high, with my main speaker firing down the room, 1m out from the back wall. They sound great, reasonable amount of bass and really big, deep sound stage, my listening chair is two thirds back.

I need to step up out of the room to go into the rest of the house, the door is in the corner behind my listening position, and when I stand on this step the bass sounds the best here, high up in the corner.

What is going on here? And can this be remedied some way?

Stuart.

I Stuart

I am no expert but have spent quite a while sorting my own bass. You should try placing your sub as close to your listening position as possible and then move around your room and find where you get the best bass performance. This is where you should (if possible) install your sub.

Good luck

You might be sitting in a null?? trying moving your seat back and forward. Bass will be stronger near the walls (or ceiling) and particularly the corners.

sounds like your exciting room nodes , try repositioning and dialling the sub down , always found positioning the sub in between my main speakers worked best in my room when trying to achieve coherent integration

Thanks Brian, that sounds interesting. Thing is, my interconnect is only 4 metres long, so i'm limited to how far I can move it from my system. Had the cable specially made by Paul at RFC, thinking 4 metres will be more than enough!
