Hi,

Got a pair of Linn Katans which I wall mounted with Linn Brakits but now I'm moving them to a different room and wall mounting is not feasible. Linn Katan stands are no longer available and are as rare as chicken's teeth so what would a recommendable alternative stand?

Do you happen to know the required height? I just bought a pretty good looking stand for my center channel on Amazon, but at 24 inches, it might be too tall for the Katans.

I just looked it up and the Katan stands are 24 inches. In that case, I would recommend these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076HX81WZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
The only problem is that there are no spikes pointing up. I plan on using Blue-tak instead. But if I were to use them for main speakers, I'd drill some holes and install some M6 thread spikes. I'd most likely also fill them with sand or rocks or the like.

These stands are all steel, heavy, and stable.

I thought so, so I took a chance on them. I haven't put my one stand into service yet, but I can say after assembling that it is rock solid. Also, the four pillars would hold lots of sand (etc.) to make them even more of a vibration sink. The top plate measures 8.5 inches by 6 inches. The Katans are deeper, and wider at the front. However, since they are tapered, the back part of the platform may extend beyond the Katans. One could cut the top plates down to size, or just live with it.

And, the price is right.

I finally put the Amazon procured stand into service supporting the centre channel of the surround system. The only concern is that the spikes are difficult to adjust in situ. This makes leveling a challenge, but not impossible. I didn't fill the columns will sand or anything else. I was surprised that the columns don't vibrate that much even undamped. But for main front speakers in a main system, I'd probably go through the trouble. Just not worth the trouble taking it apart as the surround system is singing nicely.
