Shit thread idea? Has this been done before?

Try and explain why a band is so great with 5 of their songs of something.. I'm listening to a best of the stones currently and just ran through paint it black, under my thumb and goodbye ruby Tuesday in a row and I didn't even shuffle these songs are great. This is proper Alan partridge. I don't even like the band because I think they've done about 8 good songs over 95,000 albums but at least you could show someone else why you think they are a good band.

Don't do it, you'll miss out on some gems. If you're busy right now, as I am! just take longer to do it. You will be the richer for it in the end :^

I think it's a great idea for a thread aksherly. Post up 5 tracks and links so peeps can just have a listen to the range of the band and like or not. Once your interested you can explore ofc.

Might be worth adding a genre tag to each post so that those who HATE jazz for example don't have to be tortured whilst browsing?

i agree with original post that Stones, Rolling or The/otherwise were great/definitive (although recently, try ONLY their 2013-06-ish live 'GLASTONBURY GIRL'

I confess that I have bought only 4 Stones vinyls/4 CDs and have ignored just about everything else of theirs.

Probably worthwhile posts for other acts ...

This in the absence of shared (FM) radio in this world 2013 now is actually potentially a great useful thread.

If I copy and paste the URL I can post a link, but people are less likely to "clart about" leaving the page to hear the suggestion, it is much easier to just press "Play" on an embedded youtube video.
