Another, hopefully final valve amp question.Matamps

Okay, we have established that the Matamp monos are based on the mullard 5-20 circuit and matched pairs is the way forward...el34s. Also that it self-biases.

Can i put other tubes in place of the el34, such as a matched set of C6A7 or Kt77s. Or is it strictly the 34 only.

Hearsay is the kt77 is fab. No experience myself. But this is a hard working tube in most circuits so a false economy to scrimp. Winged C seems the non-NOS fave at the mo if you can get them. These tubes wear out fast so used is a false economy IMO
