Correct goes without saying .It has power meters which obviously mean that it will sound better than without
Hadn’t even heard *of* it, but it looks very neat and stylish.  And I read it uses the acclaimed Hypex modules, probably similar to the ones in my Nord and various other makes.  TEAC’s own ‘tuning’ is less clear, but it should prove to be a good workhorse.Â
Maybe you guys can clarify a few things please. My very basic knowledge of amps is that it’s all about the circuit and components used. When it comes to Hypex are they all essentially going to sound the same with only minor differences between them? Apart from different power outputs, inputs and case design is there a lot in it between any given Hypex powered amp?Looks really nice but I suspect you'd get more value at Nord
Not all class d sounds the same but if they are using the same internals as Nord they may well do so but just cost more money as in Bel canto I believe.Maybe you guys can clarify a few things please. I need XLR inputs as well as single ended and it would be nice to have to level meters but it’s not worth paying more for them. I have used Tascam gear for decades and so it seemed natural to consider Teac.
It’s a bigger question that you probably realise.  I don’t fully understand it but my basic understanding is this:When it comes to Hypex are they all essentially going to sound the same with only minor differences between them?
How do they compare to class a/b in a musical sense?all class d amps sound different , its remarkable . i have tried umpteen icepower but no hypex yetÂ
A lot depends on your speakers. I had a Nord and it sounded awful with my then Tannoy Canterbury's, damped the hell out of them whilst it sounded great with a mate's older 13ins Tannoys.......How do they compare to class a/b in a musical sense?
Sounds just like class a/b then; everything sounds different.Âyes had a class D and sounded a bit too much with my horns but so good with the tannoys . [ eaton legacy] in fact they seem to really love class D .Â
once i had 2 sets of class D bel canto ref 1000 . the second pair were modded and sounded so different . [ in a good way]Â
then i got a class AB pair of monoblocks and they had more texture and presence than the class d . that was quite some years ago . then a rather nice MSB amp landed [ 200 watt class AB 32k now ] that was even better in terms of presence and realism .Â
now using a power amp [ asx 50 monoblocks] many thousands cheaper which is icepower and its still musical , engaging , warm and enjoyable . i am sure there are better amps but it was only a stop gap and i think its been in use 2 years or so . the sa-01 will land soon so see what that does . i also have a icepower asx 125 dual mono as a spare to try one dayÂ
