I run that particular combo and rate it highly. I haven't tried the Wilson Benesch but the Tabriz is hugely underrated on the Gyro.Is that from experience strat?cheers

In a way Ben. My intention was to buy a once in a lifetime TT purchase and I demo'd at length a range of TTs including the Gyro and Orbe. No doubt both are excellent examples of the Art and have a wonderful soundstage but I thought both were a tad dry compared with the fluidity of the Roksan. You might though usefully PM Tons of Fun who I think runs a Tabriz on a Gyro.Is that from experience strat?cheers

Just to throw another 9inch spanner in the works, the Audio Arm One/Two are in budget, fit the same Rega mount and are seriously good arms too. You don't have to be an Audio Note fan either- they are just bloody good arms judged by the standards of what is available at the price. Thanks again everyone. The Roksan is certainly a fine deck and I've been very happy with it. This all came about because a friend of mine was talking about a transcriptor. This got me looking at them and then the Gyrodec and before you know it I've got one sitting in front of me! Although I haven't heard it yet as I've sent the base away to get resprayed. I'm looking forward to setting it up though. I just thought I'd ask about arms as I think its worth putting a good arm on it but its good to hear that a Tabriz, r300 or WB would all be good.
I guess its all about trying a few out and seeing what suits me best.
Thanks for all your input. Cheers. Ben
lol. Welcome to the Wam.Don't give me more choices!!! I want to narrow it down!!!i think half the problem is that I haven't even heard of a lot of the arms. I hadn't heard of Wilson benesch until 4days ago! Audio note is new to me also! I've got a lot to learn but I look forward to it!![]()
With respect Ben,you'd only get an Illustrious if it were second hand and a good deal.Ha ha! Yes I know that but if you are dropping £800 on an arm it might be better playing it safe?!
Origin live!Hi Emma roydIve seen sub a £1000 sme v go on eBay which are a lot more expensive than the IV so surely a IV for £800 isn't completely unrealistic?!
edit - should have read that more closely. Now I'm going to have to google 'illustrious' to find out what ER is talking about!
