I don't normal post in the Sports Bar not being a massive sports fan. The following breaking news story made think though is Athletics especially the 100 and 200m the next big doping scandal. Two very well known 100m sprinters failed initial tests and one female member of 200m relay team the same.

Not good as the World Championships are only round the corner.

This has been known for years. Can't help thinking the press has a lot to answer for. They build these people up, knowing full well what the truth is, then all act amazed when the story breaks. Next big one is the Bolt, of course.

Indeed, perhaps the fastest 100m ever run by a clean British athlete? Here's hoping.
It's a good time. But would it be enough to even get him into a world final ( if he could run that quick again)?

Tyson Gay has held his hand up, wonder who the other one is?

I'll be amazed (and dismayed) if it is Bolt :nup:

You can almost understand why Tyson Gay took drugs, he must have looked at Bolt and known there was no other way he could come close.

Pressure and ego can do strange things to people.

Not condoning it in any way.

If Bolt is involved and I really hope he isn't it will destroy the credibility of the sport for a generation or more. Ben Johnson is one thing but Bolt is at a different level.

Gay & Powell (both 31) strike me as athletes who perhaps passed their peak & couldn't see any way to get to Bolt's level without 'assistance'.

I suppose the question is, "who could"

Quite true. I doubt that anyone would have been tested more over the past 5 or 6 years. Whether any irregularities would actually be reported by the athletics authorities is another story. Killing the goose that lays the golden egg etc. But I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until they get caught. Bolt does appear to have the necessary attributes to do what he does ie height, stride length and youth up until now. But I'm no expert on what can be used & hidden while in training.

Testing and having a published positive result are different things - look at Lance Armstrong. What is overlooked there is how essential it must have been to have the collaboration of so many people.
