I'm going for the electric rice cooker. Perfect rice ever time (assuming you wash until the water runs clear) plus it makes excellent risotto, paella and, with a bit of mucking around, biriani.

Soft spot for the kettle myself. Making tea is a pain in the arse without one.

Just bought a 1970's one on the bay. Fantastic thing with a proper motor.
Good idea! The modern one we bought is very good, but it doesn't have the indestructible feel to it our old one had.

Probably not in the spirit of the thread, but mine has to be the dishwasher. Washing up by hand is rubbish.

I'm curious - what do you cook in an expresso machine?
Coffee....in what way is heating an ingredient in boiling water to make it edible not cooking. :D

If you really want to be pedantic, a knife isn't a cooking gadget - it is a food preparation gadget. So ner....

Hang on, I challenge you in the pedantic stakes :D ! Coffee isn't edible, unless you eat the grains. Drinkable, certainly. Not that it really matters, an expresso machine is undoubtedly a useful gadget.
