Hi,

Since having my valve amp I am playing a lot more of this type of music, because it sounds so bloody good.

I have a standard NKC best of cd, and was wondering if there is a ' definitive' version for audio quality, either standard cd or sacd.

Cheers

mmm..... LardyL has a few ( not sure if they are great quality as they are upstairs lying under lots of dust - plus the odd vinyl EP (ex-Mrs L).

Perosnally I like Love Is the Thing (And More) Amazon Marketplace have this on vinyl...... When I fall in Love, etc - have this on CD from the 80s

I also have Just One of Those Things (And More) on CD from the 80s - Amazon Marketplace has the CD for £10.

great crooner - would like some of the jazz piano but never found out what is good - any ideas??

exactly what i have found. great isn't it

have found this based on jezzer's response: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000047EI/ref=wl_it_dp/202-1245944-4517467?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1U8583ZLVY4KL&colid=2328QNXFAMPGV

not bad for 3 cds, but not sure if it's remastered or not. was released before the one jezzer listed on amazon.com. may sound better, or worse, or the same, who knows?

Dougan/Anthony.

Buy this. Astonishing singing and great recording. (Actually itspossibly the best vocal recording I've got) Wait til you hear theseversions of Let there be Love and September Song.

Then start looking for the vinyl version. Originally on Capitol but the Music for Pleasure reissue is also pretty useful. Mono or Stereo. Its not hard to find.

I see they're offering a double deal with Beauty & the Beat. I have that on LP aswell and Peggy Lee sounds pretty darn good too.

he was a very good pianist (RIP Nat)....a good recommendation Murray and an interesting comparison with is later crooning may be have with extended listening - I feel a PhD project coming on.

actually the complete after midnight is more "timeless" and the Shearing album has less "soul" to my ears (perhaps it just seems more dated) but I prefer my jazz in "trad" mode rather than "modern" mode.....although my boss, who's a big jazz fan (more into modern than me) prefers the Trio stuff - but hey who am I to say??

Just received this - very nice recommendation. As has been said the vocals are superb. Its boring the shit out of the rest of the folk in the office though. Tasteless gits.

It is truly effortless. Nat could sing a bit unlike many modern performers.
