Hello Guys

I'd be soon trying to build some mains power cords.

Any recommendations for :

1. Which cables are you advising me ?

2. Which schucko plugs to take , and the IEC ones ?

3., Where to buy them ?

I don't know whether the investment for rhodium or other stuff is worth the hype ??

Cheers

Maro, knowing your high end kit I would say not to skimp. Personally, good mains cables and plugs gave me a really good upgrade. The soundstage became much better defined, bass was tighter and deeper and a little brightness was removed.

I started off with Mark Grant 2.5 which were great vfm. But, the Furutech Alpha 3 or Oyaide 2 were the top notch cable.

Connector wise , imo, Oyaide are the best. The beryllium copper ones especially. The carbon fibre furutech are very goid but very expensive. Iego are good vfm but not as good as Oyaide. Choose a budget and select from these brands and you won't go far wrong. You can get genuine Oyaide very cheap from Hong Kong.

Oyaide is very expensive guys
They come up second hand occasionally. If you buy from an established wammer it would be fine. Would you pay import tax from Hong Kong? Otherwise, iego are good and cheaper.

If you really must, I have bought heaps of stuff from these guys:

Decent, high quality bits at sensible prices.

That said, I'd still rather spend it on Merlot for a proper gain in performance...

Maro - You will have noticed from some of the responses that there is considerable scepticism around here as to the benefit of changing cables etc. I have to say from my experience that there is benefit from at least experimenting (not all changes have been positive) although I must acknowledge that those who claim there is no benefit can point to a lot if not conclusive evidence to support their arguments. All the best.Lindsay

Try SUPRA LoRad 2.5, absolutely great cable, just seen some on the bay for £12.95 per mtr from Divine Audio. TM3 good source for plugs.
