I want to go from the digital out of my Cambridge CD4 to the digital input of my receiver. I very brightly bought on of these coax cables. I can confirm that cables do make a difference - this doesn't bloody fit.

The CDP has what looks like a BNC output, while the does take the phono-type plugs on my cable. I should have checked these details before buying... Before I do anything else stupid, would one of these converters do the job? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adaptor-BNC-plug-RCA-socket/dp/B0012IKBSU/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1376472479&sr=8-6&keywords=bnc+rca+adapter

Yes, they will work as an adapter. Just make sure you order the right version, male or female.

Yup Jon......exactly what you do need.....there are ready made cables available, from sensibly priced to fooo levels YMMV etc.

Lots of peeps use the adapters & indeed some DAC makers who use BNC instead of RCA socketry will supply an adapter to enable you to do this.

My last Dac (Musical Fidelity M1) has an AES* (XLR) for one of its inputs......as I needed t' extra input I bought an XLR/Phono adapter to use with one of my existing coax cables. I did a fair bit of experimentation with different sources/cables etc & the SQ seemed to be just as good as just using a coax into the coax SPdiff input.

Jon let me know if you need male or female - I have a couple spare kicking about and can send you one FOC.
Thanks! To avoid another stupid mistake, I'll double check this evening and let you know.

Which reminds me, I've got a couple of cables to go as well...

I have just bought a Fiio d3 for my Virgin media box, last night I thought to connect it to my Cambridge CD4 SE also BNC digital out.

I found in one of my carrier bags of bits of wire a longish length of genuine Raydex CT 100 coax cable to the end of which I crimped & soldered an RCA plug that just took the cable with a bit of judicious licking, whilst ordering a 3m Toslink cable on the Bay I also ordered a male BNC connector for the other end of the CT 100 . I had used the CT 100 to make phono leads for a friends system with CT125 pre amp to amp, with great results, but never for a digital lead. As I do not have a crimping tool for coax I will solder the BNC plug & hope the thing works having read the dire warnings about 75 Ohm/reflections etc.

:^ Nice little thing t' Fiio D3 I wuz running one in my bedroom setup using my NAS as a local player via USB out with an SPdif/USB interface. I've only replaced it at the beginning of this week & have half a mind to keep it rather than move it as it's a handy thing & the SQ belies its price.

I have an Audio Note Japan BNC (with phono adapter) to Phono cable.

Happy to sell for an extortionate price :)
