Bottlehead Crack

Hi just getting into building a Bottlehead Crack its a valve headphone amp and is my first venture into diy building. Need to practice my soldering a little more before I start on the point to point wiring. I have completed fitting of the top plate customizing it by adding a cosmetic carbon fibre veneer which was left over from another project. Next step wiring and thinking about adding doing a bit of inlay to the wood case plus some feet I think I might also swap out the plastic volume knob for a nice knurled metal one. Anyhow this how its looking so far.

nice touch Jamie, the carbon weave. Have been looking at the stereomour but would prefer a pair of mono's about the size of your crack, if you'll excuse me being so forward ;-) had paramours some time ago and liked them a lot. Did you put the crack together yourself?

Thanks Paul yes building the crack myself I also do all the carbon fibre work myself as well, its been a really nice project to do so far and its been a lot of fun running with different ideas on finishes, knobs, feet etc. I can see myself doing another Bottlehead project after I have this one under my belt. Nice community over on the Bottlehead forum also.

I completed wiring today (minus the speedball upgrade) still have the resistance and voltage checks to do tomorrow before its up and running.

Indeed. I like the plaited signal leads. I have been wondering myself if a Bottlehead pre-amp would be worth doing.

Finished up the build yesterday after being on hold for a few days after I shorted out a led on a adjacent octal terminal while doing my voltage checks.

It really is a cracking sounding piece of kit it just does so much so right.
