Hi all,

I'd like to pair them with an amp thayt sounds and looks the business.

Any recomedations for a good looking top sounding amp?

What's your budget?

What's your idea of "good looking?" Plain? Shiny? Black? Silver? Champagne? Lots of lights / meters / knobs? Minimalist?

Aesthetics are very personal, but if they were my 'speakers I'd want to match them with something of the same era, in keeping with the ethos of the B&Ws. My first choice would be a Quad 34 or better still, 44 and 405-2. Supplement it with a FM4 tuner and put it on one of those lovely little Quad racks, and there is a lovely looking system that will work very well indeed.

Alternative might be a Musical Fidelity MVT pre-amp and Studio T or P370 power amp, a Meridian 101 pre-amp and 105 power amps or if you're into post-modern brutalism, then the Mission 776/777 pre/power combination is excellent. http://www.stancurtis.com/M777.htm

But as Mibby said above, what's "good looking" and what's the budget?

Hey guys,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It terms of looks I like whizz bang 70s/80s recivers and sliver amps (maybe with a little wood of the same period.

Not a big fan of the black box stuff that came later.

I like the look of the meridian but that mission pair are crazy.

Budget is £200-£350.

I have a Yamaha CR1000 receiver that I keep just for the looks. Or better still one of the Marantz receivers with the horizontal tuning wheel and the oscilloscope display. Lovely looking stuff.
