What I would like to do is, on my Squeezebox touch I have removed the coaxial socket from the main board, popped a BNC on the rear cover and soldered some solid core silver to it.

now I would like to be able to run another set of wires to either of the analogue RCA outputs will be made redundant, so I can have the option to use both BNC and RCA coaxial outputs to run two dacs or a choice of cables, I seriously doubt both will be in use at the same time but want to know if they were could this cause issues or even if they weren't?

thanks in advance guys

Dan

Danny,

Do you mean having two pairs of wires soldered at the same point on the motherboard, which in turn, lead to the inputs of two dac's?

I would just fit a BNC "T" piece to the output connector you've already fitted, with either an BNC to RCA adaptor when needed, or a cable which converts BNC to RCA when you use a DAC with an RCA input.

Be aware, though, that feeding two DACs from one output on the Touch will cause an impedance mismatch as the Touch will now be feeding half the impedance it is designed to. In practice this will probably still work OK but a better solution would be to feed one of the DACs using the optical output, assuming one of your DACs has an optical input.

The optical route of course is the most sensible solution :)

However I am a bit of a cable maniac and have a couple expensive coax's which I would have Prefered to utilise, BNC and RCA and I really don't like using adapters, personally I don't think they benefit the sound.

I also have found I mostly prefer the sound of coax to optical.

I think determination of the cables is going to be my best bet
