Buffalo 3se DAC
£150 collected?
I realized I replaced knob with a nice knurled solid aluminium one.
First off. I didn't build this, a very talented Chap from another forum made it. I still keep in touch with him.
Ethernet connection only
This is a great sounding DAC based on the twisted Pear Buffalo 3SE (ES9018) DAC board and Legato I/V stage. The ESS9018 accepts PCM and DSD input formats - comes pre loaded with 'pure 3071' as renderer on the DAC
Power supplies are Salas Reflektor Ds for the DAC and Salas BIB shunt regs for the Legato.
Input is via a network connection to a beaglebone Black running Twisted Pear Botic sofftware and interfaced to the DAC via an Acko SO3 isolator/reclocker.
There is a volume control using the ESS9018 onboard function.
The Legato board also offers a high quality headphone amp function.
I use a pc as library with ' asset upnp' loaded, and bubble upnp on my phone, works without fail everytime.
Front panel is solid walnut.
The pictures below show the insides but there is a fully vented lid included (fully vented because the shunt regs run 'warm'!).
Oh, and it sounds very nice.
