My UK sourced 805 is excellent

The general faults I have seen with the little integrated amps are the control knobs working loose, be it the grub screw or lock nuts and the screen print rubbing off the remotes. Build quality inside is fine.

Check the working voltage though, some are 220V re-labeled as 230V....

I just so happen to have some up-skirt shots of my MD 18 watt SET ... sorry about the poor quality of the photos.

I have the early all gold, proper blink version of Ming Da 805, very well build indeed, weight a ton (big transformers), put it this way I have bought many tubes amps some cost 10 times more and many of them are not build nearly as well as the minging Do Da (not talking about sound here though)

I think the pcb will be the remote control stuff. Also, it has a slow start facility, which may add a bit of complexity.

It is rather crowded, but that's cos it's really very compact.

Mine arrived with a dodgy small-signal valve, which the distributor replaced next day delivery. Other than that, the only problem since was a knob that needed tightening ( as BD said above).

I think it is real value for money in terms of build quality, and it really does perform way above its price bracket.

Hi,

mine has been faultless, I've replaced signal valves with TJ full music & rectifier with PS Vane Western Electric 1:1 replica 274b to great effect, a bargain valve amp!

The 18W 902, 2 box phono and the 805 monos were the absolute jewels in the crown imo.

I have a pair of 9 year old MC-845Cs and theiy have been reliable, except for the heater resistors failing in one of them. Of course I have valve rolled for the best sound, and dropped the blue LED voltage, but not done anything else.

BTW, they will probably for sale soon, as my wife wants a system she can understand if I kill myself. Motorbikes. They are the 220v version, but this sorts that out.- http://www.dms-audio.com/bucking-transformer-diy

Aso an MC84-C EL84 amp. Some of the wiring is a little close to the valve bases in that, and the insulation has hardened, but it has been reliable. And sounds remarkably sweet, as several people have commented.

If they are falsely labelled, they do not come from Ming Da Valve Audio UK, Malvern....... The only official appointed importer, distributor and service centre in the UK!

We correctly label ALL units, even some we have converted to 230V...

I thought that you knew that Jack, having been a dealer for year.... or just having a gentle stir with the wooden spoon eh? :?

as you're going to have a none too subtle dig, I'll have one.

Why are they not all converted to 230V, as that is the UK voltage?

Sorry,

Most of you know that Jack (BD Audio) is one of my clients for website work.

That was probably out of order. I'll none too gently bow out of this now, before it gets unpleasant.
