People will often PM and not reveal on the thread so even if there was a rule, being first to post does not mean you were the first to respond.

But as Tony says, it's entirely up to the seller, he might want a quick collection, or his mate might want them, or he might just decide to randomly pick someone, totally his choice.

Can be gutting if there's something you really want. Like some nice speakers for example 😉

This isn't AV Forums!

My advice; if you want something then make sure you make quick contact and say that. Not 'I'm interested' or whatever. The seller only has one item for sale so will look to sell to the first oerson with a firm 'yes please'

That's how I operate as it's the fairest to all parties. Of course, after the firm yes then payment/delivery/collections needs to be promptly arranged; not days later.

I tend to post " Pm Sent " which indicates I have made first contact for the item.

But like others have said though it's up to the seller to decide who they will sell too as long as they have'nt agreed to sell to me I would be a bit dischuffed about that.

I did that to be fair and sent the person a pm and i was the first to do so. I guess they could have been for sale on a few groups though

Absolutely this, no dithering and leave the seller in no doubt that you're a firm buyer. Still up to the seller though.

How can you be sure you were the first to send a PM though?

Exactly.

Not everyone puts 'PM sent' in the actual advert, of course.

Well maybe that should be the rule if you publicly state you want it by posting 'Pm Sent' in the sale thread then if your post is first you can buy the item👍

It should also mean if you say in your Pm you want to buy it then you are commited👍

*Absolutely not*. The seller is in control of the transaction, period.

There may be myriad reasons why the first to respond (by any means) is not acceptable to the seller - for example (but not limited to) previous bad experiences with that buyer. We're not about to put any constraints on what the seller may decide, including deciding they don't want to sell the item at all.

Gutted? Yes, can you do anything to change the situation? No…
However posting this thread does clarify things for others Lee. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be mate, I’ve been there before hoping I was first and that I’d get the item 👍

I think AVForums dropped that 'first' rule.

I make it a rule NEVER to sell to anyone with 1975 in their user name, terrible year* 😉😂

*I'm kidding of course I'll sell to anyone with the right offer 😊
