Can anyone lend me a Canon EF fitment lens please ?

Anything at all.

A mate has just bought a Canon 5D which apparantly had a problem with the autofocus. But as I understand it, the autofocus is all in the lens itself, so it may be that there is nothing at all wrong with the body. Only neither of us have any lenses.

Does anyone have anything I could borrow (I'll pay postage both ways) for a short while to see if we can sort any issues.

Your right Rick you need a lens fitted for auto focus to work

How about nipping into your local camera shop and test driving a new lens, or maybe even local cash generator type establishment.?

Martin, we went to a shop in town but the "assistant" was about 200% less than helpful. Wasn't prepared to let us try a lens. Fucking wankers.

The auto focus motors are in the lenses, but all the sensors and computing stuff are in the body. The lenses just respond to commands from the body.

It was Wilkinson Cameras in Warrington.

When we explained our problem, the assistant just said, "It'll be broke then that" and would not let us try a lens out on it.

Thing is, although we weren't there to buy on that particular day, and I'm guessing thats what the assistant figured, we may have returned with cold hard cash at a later date, now that we knew the body was in fine fettle. Or not as the case may be, but we will see.
