I'm puzzled by recently reading about cartridge capacitance for my AT Vm95 - from what I've gleaned so far, the arm, phono leads and preamp will all add capacitance that will either fall within the acceptable margins of the cartridge (100-200pf), or not. Not sure what it all means and what would happen if the two don't match? Is it worth bothering about at all? Any words of wisdom on this would be much appreciated. Ta.

Most tone arm manufacturers would have factored this in when built, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. What arm is it?

Yes too much capacitance could/would cause high frequency peak which could be not very pleasant ,
try to use as little capacitance loading with your phono stage , tonearm cable you can do nothing about unless you want to spend money on a rewiring , keep the cable connecting tonearm to phono stage at minimum possible length- you can buy one from Yannis with a very low capacitance if you like . I posted a link lately to cable having capacitance at 39pF/m if you search my posts and you might need one as your cartridge shouldn’t be loaded with more than 200pF .

A Rega R220 - not much info about it online. The Linn Akurate mm phono stage has a 68pf capacitance according to the specs. I think the combined should be ok on this basis.
