Play the first 2 songs, did not find the sound quality that good, playing Beck, Sea Change now, which seems better to me.

A....raintown.....I have fond memories of being taking into Glasgow as a child....not often a dry day. It was not until my adulthood that I learned why....the gulf stream, mountains to the west, rising up and weeing all over us...

@Audio Al Mine turned up the other day, yes it sounds good, but nothing outstanding, it's not my cup of tea either so have only played it a couple of times, as you say it must be your super system.

If you're just getting into CD these are good, Sade Diamond Life 1984 recorded/released four years earlier and Harold Faltermeyer Harold F 1988 more my beverage.

Track 11 is outstanding in my view , You need to listen carefully to all that is going on.

I only buy CD's from the local boot sale if they are 50p each , Worth a gamble at that price , I struck gold with the Deacon Blue Raintown album , Tracks 5 and 6 also good, I can go into detail but don't want to bore you to death.

I played this on Qobuz at CD quality , excellent , they also have a HI-Res version and that wasn't as good , far too bright and shouty .

I have a copy on my NAS ripped from the original CD which I bought the week of its release. Played it today for first time in ages. It’s not bad but I have better sounding albums. I gave a few tracks on Qobuz a listen and my rip is definitely better. I realise that you are talking about the actual CD played on a CD player (I vaguely remember owning one of those back in the day) so it’s probably apples and oranges, but thought I would add to the thread.
