Hi All,
I have a HHB CDR 800 which is based on the Pioneer Stable Platter PDR05 (eg disk sits on a turntable, silver side up)
Unfortunatly I seem to be getting on about 50% success rate when burning. The data gets written to the disc, as I can play it back on my PC, but it will not start the TOC and comes up with the message "Repair" on the display. This message is normally linked to a power failure during the write process acording to the user guide. I wonder if the reading laser is getting weak, and can not see the CD-R data. It plays back a prerecorded disk OK .
Tommorow I will try another batch of CD-R I bought today, just in case my spindle of 100 disks are a dud batch.
The machine cost a fortune when new £1500 in 1997 (I bought it 2nd hand) and has things like copper chassis, and uses computer disks rather than "Audio" ones, so it would be a shame to scap it.
Although I could buy the service manual for £10, I doubt if I would have the optical test gear to measure the laser output or standard test discs.
