I have a Krell 2250 from the early 2000's (not class A or anywhere near the FPB series) and much prefer it to my Plinius SA103 CLass A !
Yup....The Plinius that I mentioned in my OP was the original SA100 MkIII
A fine amp, the AB to A toggle switch was a gem, great idea, but sonically the Big K is light years ahead.
All the soundstage of the Plinius , but extraordinary grip on the bass , and fast and snappy on the top :)
Thankfully, I have the Vitus into the same pre, so can do AB for general listening, and K for weekend "critical listening" , and room warming duties.

Would not call this an Old Krell as this is the era when they abandoned pure class A and implemented their own form of psuedo class A . There is no doubting this a very powerful amplifier and will control and drive just about any speaker . However I have to say having heard one I prefer my own KSA 50 Mk1 for sound quality but that is probably because i have owned it for so long and I am so used to it . Hope you enjoy your new purchase and it gives you trouble free music for many years to come .
