Classical music day in Reading area, pre-house move Saturday July 13th

I'm moving house in late July/early August so am planning a classical music day like I've held in the past, last chance to give the kit a decent rattle before things have to be put in boxes.

The aim of the day is to share great recordings of great music. It's not a bake-off as such focused on kit-swapping, such but I'm sure we could squeeze in a listen to some cartridges, SUTs, phono stages and the like.

All 'classical' genres welcomed from 'early'/renaissance to contemporary. I might have a USB dac here to accommodate new fangled streaming-stuff but CDs would be better and best of all, LPs. In particular I'll have some nice mono kit to use including my new Miyajima Premium BE cartridge as well as the Io/ANS6. Other kit is my AN transport and DAC, Puresound 2A3 integrated, and of course the Tannoy GRFs.

The wife will be in China on a research trip (hence the reason for the date) but I will risk putting some food together with maybe a barbie late afternoon if the weather is decent. Kickoff after 1pm or so, and going in till as late as people think sensible.

I posted this in the classical section last night but you all know how dozy it gets down there, only one confirmed so far, I can probably take about half a dozen.

Argh - I can't do Saturday :( - any chance of moving it to the Sunday? :upgrade:
It's a possibility I guess ... no reason for Saturday other than the need to work on Monday and need to clean up before SWMBO gets back on Weds. Might mean a slightly earlier finish.

I would have been delighted to come along but we are looking after 2 small grandsons for the weekend so will be busy/knackered.

Love the idea of a classical music listen-in.

bugger I will also be in China Frank, would like a listen at yours in the future if that's possible.
Certainly you would be welcome to come for a listen.

I do intend to have a bake off when my new speakers are delivered and run in a bit. Given the level of interest and the junk in my listening room there may have to be several days...

It'll be Sunday now to accomodate Jerry.

Four confirmed: Jerry, James (Muji), Gareth (voiceofthemysterons) and James (Jazid).

Can probably accommodate 1-2 more if any takers.

Hi Tom, I will have a word with the missus. She won't think this is me trying to get out of house moving duties at all... :D

I would love to come Tom (I'm only a few miles up the road) but, sadly, I'm on night shifts that weekend :(

 err thought it was your thread Frank, look forward to hearing your kit. Give me the heads up in advance Frank as I always seem to miss out on these bake offs. By the time I see the thread they fully subscribed.

Just a little bit too far. Would love to hear some classical in a different environment. Sadly there is nobody in our village or within 20 miles interested in classical music.

drat would love to come but fitting double glazing etc , are you still using that modded L10 ?
Shame Phil. L10 was a cracker but I found the Puresound 2A3 didn't need it as much as a lot of other amps .. it has an active gain stage and works really well on its own.

Thanks, Tom! An excellent afternoon playing classical music. Great food, too. :^

Nice to meet James (jazid) and James (MUJI), too, as well as Martin & Phil who I already knew. :)

SUT shenanigans was interesting as well.
