I've no idea what all that stuff does but it must be mildly reassuring compared to transport mech and a small pcb.

Transport Mech in the top middle. Natch,

Power supply board on the right. DAC bottom middle, Transport control on the left.

special pleading, but the X-Ray has the boards double-stacked to fit it all in, but put that lot in a full sized box and it gets a bit sparse - specially since the A3.5CD has poorer power supply regulation...

Interested to see the Copland screens some of the internal wiring - does anyone happen to know which part of the circuit that is?

That screened lead goes accreoss the Transport control board, from the Transport to the digital outputs. The optical and coax are in there i think.

mmmmmmm this one needs to eat more greens:p
Isn't that an A5? Apart from the valves in the output stage, it's IDENTICAL to the X-RayV3 except that THAT has the DAC on a separate board with a separate power supply from one of the transformer windings...

hmmmm... it's getting hard to defend the indefensible... this is why I would never buy current big-box MF kit...

Take away 1 pair of reservoir caps and that's an X-P200 with a volume control and selctable outputs

On searching for other pictures of CD Players with nothing in them (there are a lot!!), I came across this, almost made me physically sick, not only the shear mess, but the fact the box has hardly anything in it, not to mention the absolute nerd factor

Blimey! What a sad bastard! It does look fucking awful too. I wonder whether there ws any real improvement at all.

Dual layer dual mono PCB and chokes. And 23kg worth!

So ha!

More in there than an A5 CD and Integrated. Or that copland CD player.
