Well four weeks today guys and we will be sat at breakfast ....maybe the odd sore head, paracetamol beside a back coffee etc, systems running on low vol to warm them up wondering how we will fare over the next 8 hrs.

Having been on the WAM since spring 2011, just after attending as a visitor my 1st 'Scalford' this time each year feels a bit like Xmas did as a kid 😀

Butterflies not for presents but as to how your system will work .....will anyone stop to listen in your room....will they make any comments (both positive and negative) etc

This year will be my 4th time as an exhibitor (or maybe 5th) and each time I seem to bring even more kit, but still with the same level of enthusiasm.  Hopefully a few 'old friends' who don't post much will still attend for the usual banter etc but equally it's great to make new contacts too and put faces to names etc.

The best part if the day(s) is the genuine comradeship....people willing to assist etc and finding new music/albums/genres that you've not considered/heard before.

Be warned tho ....I've acquired the ultimate cd of 'room emptying musak' that can be deployed without warning 😜

Lets have the best show yet guys

Keith

Always my favourite weekend of the year, this will be my 11/12  show (not sure how many we have had now, but I have only missed one) and my seventh time showing. Do not get the nerves any more, which is a good thing, but get excited with about a week to go!

But as Keith said the best part for me is the big family atmosphere, and catching up with all the great friends you have made over the years on this wonderful forum. There is no other show like it, truly unique, and something we should all be very proud of.

James I salute you for starting it , and Peter and the mods, you have my gratitude for continuing this wonderful event, and running this great forum.See you all there 👌

Yep, like Keith I also get that kid at Xmas vibe. This will be my 4th show and 3rd as an exhibitor, starting off with the final Scalford show.

The only regrets I have had after exhibiting have been, damn is that it, the days to short I want to carry on playing music, and I wish I'd brought X albums or CDs with me aswell. I have, however started a tradition with myself of playing The Airborne Toxic Event :- Around Midnight as my final tune, as to me it has the right feeling/tone for an end of the event track + it was the last track I played the first time I exhibited.

As for kit, at the 1st Keggy I thought I was exhibiting my endgame system, but no, last year saw a new/different TT, cart, phono & CDP, with this year seeing a different cart & speakers, will I ever get to show the same system 2 years in a row? Probably not.

Whatever happens I always look forward to meeting people, the banter, and last year and this, having a big room to really let my system off the leash. Even the 2 days spent reassembling my room & kit doesn't dampen the whole experience.

Let's hope my 989s are out of the OTA sickbay and fighting fit in time for collection on the way up.

You just reminded me John of my tradition...since my 1st time as an exhibitor- John aka The Mad Latvian came into my room at Scalford a few times and near to 5pm we let the system rip with Boellman Toccata (John was a big classical organ music fan) shaking the room.  Sadly John passed away in 2015 but at each exhibition I always turn it up to 13 for that last track.

Indeed evey time I've improved the bass response of my system that track is my turn to and played loud with a nod to John....I can still see him grinning sat in the Gun Room at Scalford ....probably with a 2nd helping of Janes infamous choc fudge cake and know he'll be with us esp when I let it rip with the Volts this year. 😢

I am frankly at this moment bricking it . I have re assembled my speakers but as yet have not put the whole system togehter and played a note . Most of this is just laziness on my part but I also blame my main music system which has been calling me in to play tunes most days. Like all those who have added this is my favourite  weekend this will be my thrird showing and as I only started when the show moved to Kegworth and I never got to Scalfold I have no fond memories of that event .

I love the new venue and if I am honest start thinking about the Wam Show about a month after the past one is finished . I just want a system that will work and make me happy with the sound , after that I can take any comments on the chin because my ssytems are made for me to listen to them and enjoy and if that is what I achieve then I am very happy indeed .

Look forward to seeing all of the exhibitors and seeing Peter and Baz again along with John , Keith , Colin , Ed , Tony and so many more . Just to be around people who do not pull a strange face when I mention cables and DAC,s is enough . Then it is the joy of finding new music , the buzz of the Sunday and the elated and content feeling at the Sunday Night Curry . All of these make up the time and add to the already rich memories I have .

I want as well to meet as many new people as possible , make a point of talking to me and telling me who you are and your forum names . I have a terrible memory for faces and names so I am not being rude deliberately I just probably can not remember . I love to talk but if you want to chat then lets do it in the corridor and let those linstening get on with it .

Monday I am going to assemble a full kit and do the full hit of crossovers , Dirac Live with luck I will have a working system before the end of the day and can then paly it daily just to make sure it is working . No doubt there will be issues but that will just make the final music that but better.
