Hi, anyone have experience of this £170 or so phono stage? How does it compare to the Gram Amp 2?

Also, how much did the Creek OBH-8SE with the OBH-2 PSU retail for because there's one on eBay at the moment?

I heard this a few years ago when it first came out - along with that little passive pre-amp they have.

I thought it was very good for the money and even thought about getting one when I first got into vinyl - but got convinced by the dealer to buy a Densen (which I ended up hating).

I haven't heard the Gram Amp 2 but it does get very good reviews and I've heard it mentioned many times by happy users over at PFM and Zerogain.

Just found something on the Hi-fi World site which prices the OBH-8SE at £160. The brief review is dated Nov 97 so it's old. The one on eBay is starting at £100 so that's a bit steep for second hand?

that's useful information in contrast to the few good reviews I found since on AudioREVIEW.com.

I have used the Creek in the past, but now use the Graham Slee 2 special edition

The build quality of Creek is not something I think much of, most people seem very happy with it, but not me.

The Graham is very nice sound, one of the best I have heard, not taken Graham apart yet, but I can see from just looking at it, the build quality is very good :cool:will look in side soon

Cheers Dave, I think with any product in this price range the build quality is not going to be fantastic. These things just sit there once installed so as long as they're screwed together reasonably well, what can go wrong? I know the Graham Slees are good, just checking out the Creeks. There are no Slees S/H on eBay at the moment and when one comes up they go for silly money. I am watching/bidding on a few phono amps at the mo so if outbid again I will see if Chezi still wants to sell his Slee. Thanks for your view Dave.

Pro-ject 1 Xpression with the cart upgraded to OM40 - a £140 stylus. I am using this through the built-in MM board in my Cambridge A500 amp.

If everyone looks away for a few minutes and stops pushing the used prices up to ridiculous amounts, I could be the proud owner of a Project SE in about 40 mins. That should suffice for now. If not a Slee 2 or Creek OBH-18 or S/H OBH-8SE will do?

FUCKY FUCK FUCK!! Sorry but that wasn't me. Why do people want to pay £94.00 for a USED item that can be bought NEW for £110 with FREE DELIVERY from Superfi? That's two now I have wasted my time on. The last one went for £82.00 which I thought was too much. Damn and blast etc. What's happening to second hand value?

I'm going to give up and buy new - less stress.:minikiev:
