I recently added the Momentum HD preamp and S250 MxV stereo power amp to my system and they are absolutely glorious at driving my TAD CR1 MKII speakers.
Dan D’Agostino has come a long way since his ground- breaking Krell class A amps of the early 80’s! His latest offerings offer finesse and musicality, allied to innovative circuitry and rock-solid power supplies, doubling output as the impedance halves!
I have been searching for a replacement for my Conrad Johnson GAT2 pre/ Premier 350SA power combo, which was getting a bit long in the tooth (I bought the power amp, new, in 2004!) and apart from a short dabble with TAD’s M2500 MKII (a class D output design), I have found my goal in the D’Agostino pairing.
I would have liked to have kept my CJ GAT2, as it is a world-class line stage, but CJ only believe in single-ended circuitry and the D’Agostino’s are the polar opposite - balanced only, end to end! No RCA phono inputs at all!
If any Wammers fancy a listen to the system (dCS Vivaldi (latest Apex DAC upgrade) full stack, front end as well as turntable) let me know and I can facilitate! Or, you could come along to my bake-off on Saturday 20th August (Alresford, Hampshire SO24!
