Hi - in advance of my 170 arriving, I've been playing around with the Configurator, and intend to experiment with the speaker settings is configurator - particularly the high pass, low pass and full range settings.

Thought it might be useful to set up a separate thread so that we can all share experiences with different speakers. I'll be using Linn Akurate 242 for the forseeable future and will post results over the next few weeks or so.

Good idea.

FWIW I have kept mine without filters or anything, everything has always been full range. Why do you wish to adjust high and low pass, unless you are integrating a subwoofer?

I have the default tone control settings but have never used them...

I have basically used the configurator to switch off unused inputs, name used inputs, set analogue gains to avoid clipping and set output power level. I also have set up Air to my network name/password but don't use it much.

Hi Ken

I've just borrowed a Wilson Benesch Torus ("infrasonic generator" in their words) so have been using the configurator to drive both stereo speakers and a pre-amp output to the Torus amp, in dual-mono.

In my experience the configurator is a fantastic design given that you can rename inputs, disable inputs, do high pass and low pass stuff at different filter slopes, and so on.

I prefer always using the advanced configurator as you can see the unit throughout.

You just have to be really thorough when using it - it won't correct your errors!

Thanks Ian - I've since found out that I misinterpreted this element of the Configurator. You're right - only useful if you want to add a sub. Ah well, enough to play around with as it is ....

Sorry Frank - responded to you but addressed Ian. I'm still getting used to working the forum ..
