ok, in a month or two, i will be looking for a pair of floorstanders.

i value dynamics and sound stage over ultimate accuracy and i want it to get my foot tapping
00001664.gif.f3a6986ade705efb256520e3dde6edd1.gif
. i would like it to prefably have at least a 7" bass driver but i only need a F3 point of around 50-55Hz.

i like rega from what i have heard but i would like somthing a little 'beefier', in terms of design, i like the Kef 104/2's and ATC SMC50's.

i have a Primare A20 and will be getting a Rega Planet CDP.

can i get all this for £300?

thanks

I realise the name's un-cool, and some members diss the manufacturer as a matter of course, but I happened to hear a pair of these yesterday, played back to back with some Spendor S5es.

I was amazed at how close the Mission's got in matching the Spendors (which I rate highly). The Missionswe able to deliver good soundstaging and depth, and whilst Bass wasn't causing the building's foundations to vibrate, they were able to deliver an impressive sound.

On offer here http://www.harrowaudiohifi.co.uk/viewitem.asp?MyID=&StockCode=h63mi098

Check out the reviews here http://www.mission.co.uk/index1.htm

Good Choice Mission still make good speakers, the fact that Richer Sounds stock them, seems to put people off, he does not own Mission its part of the IAG group Quad TAG ect ect

New I would demo Monitor Audio B4 (£350 but may get ex-dem or store discount), Epos ELS 303 (£400 but again look for ex-dem) and Mordaunt Short Avant 906 (£350). Actually £300 is better spent on standmounts if buying new and will only buy compromised budget floorstanders.

Second hand.... er, pass but you'd get a lot more loudspeaker for your money, but it's buying blind.

go for a set of acoustic energy ae109's. they are the best speaker i've ever had. when i had a set i couldn't find any speaker under a grand that come anywhere near them. they are an awesome speaker for the money.

my mate just got a set of acoustic energy 109's and is delighted with them. only paid 120 quid for them off e-bay.

when i had them i compaired them to most of the monitor audio range and they blew them all away easily. also the around 20kg each.

Yeah, i love the 'efortless' of those JBL's but i think they might just be a little to big, love that design of speaker though

what about the more modern JBL speakers, like the E60 etc, are they any good?

The new JBL stuff is OK...

My mate had the E60's they're quite shouty, and exposed, good bass, but it suits a night club more than a hifi IMO

If you can live with the elements of brightness, JM Lab or triangle, fast very dynamic and lean but low bass

Look nice, as a lot of newer Jamo stuff does...

Although I consider a pair of E850's recently, I read a review of general recent Jamo products which suggested they're better at Home Cinema than they are at 2 channel stuff...

I do think you'd do better with a pair of standmounts, so much quality for lesser cash

Hey buddy, glad to see you are sorting your electronics out. You will find the rega/primare combo will quite easily outform the all in one NAD and drench out more performance from your speakers. If you want dynamic then give the B&W 602 s3 ago or some second hand 603s. Should sound nice with those electronics.
