EAR 834P MM/MC phono-amplifier-for sale!
I bought this Ear 834p directly from Tim d Paravicini himself so this unit was made designed and built by the master.
Please see photos (With compliments slip) showing this. It is in really nice cosmetic condition (see photos) and is in full working order too. Sounds amazing and will be sent in its original packaging.
On the front there is a silver coloured toggle switch which Tim fitted for me so if you choose to use it through a pre amp you can flip this switch taking the 834 internal volume control out of the equation when you do this, this means you are rewardingly not going through two volume controls.
Conversely because it has its own volume control you can switch this volume control in and then use it directly into your chosen power amp.
I have just had a new AlpsBlue volume control fitted to put my 834 back into its original condition and also into original specification.
This newly fitted AlpsBlue volume control cost £15.00 + VAT + postage + Qualified Electricians Installation a total cost of just under £60. It replaces a remote volume control which I had fitted a while ago but have since decided against because it did not give the expected high-quality results of original AlpsBlue potentiometer which the unit now has making it as it was when I bought it brand new.
I will include the "removed" remote volume control unit free of charge just out of interest to you.
There are lots of rave reviews on line about the EAR 834p that you can read should you so choose.
I once asked Tim if I should upgrade to the newer 834 unit his reply was, “that is not necessary Colin you are already getting the same results from your unit” and let’s face it he should know!

Reason for sale I used to use the truly wonderful 834p with my beautiful Koetsu Red Signature MC cartridge, which I sadly no longer have, I couldn’t afford a new Koetsu. But I can tell you The Koetsu Red really made the 834 sing! Those were very happy times indeed.
I am now using a rather nice but less expensive moving iron cartridge which works really well with my Croft pre amp phono input, so the fantastic 834 is not now in use and will give someone else great pleasure instead of it being un-used in its box.
