Exposure XM CD

Anybody got one of these. Or had one. Used as a straight player or as a cd transport ?
Been on the go a few years now.
Top loader. I like this. Looking for a cd transport really but like the idea of a good sounding reliable modern player that does this well too.
Not keen on the two lid guides in silver mind you.

I had one for a short while, ostensibly to use as a transport (which was the original design objective, I believe), The optical mechanism was quite noisy in use. The sliding top cover is woeful. Cheap and thin 'plate' that manually moves in two very simple 'guides'. Having had several Exposure pieces in the past, I was very disappointed. It got sent back. Sound wise, through its own DAC, I would rate it as comparable to a 2010CD model from Exposure.

I had one - or three (or possibly two if the last one was the first one mended). On each occasion the mech failed and it went back to Exposure. Such a shame as I still use another 5 of their products.
I now use the 2010 as transport - just as good and totally reliable.

At the Bristol show today Exposure were demoing their new full width 3510 CDP, although it is not on sale yet.
Shame about the XM CD as it supposedly is especially good as a transport.

Oh dear. Glad I posted query. No longer a contender.
Nearly bought another transport as a stop gap . Budget job. Then read all the anecdotal stuff about disc scratches. Not an Exposure I should add.
New Audiolab 9000 may be brstcontender now. Or the new 3510 Exposure maybe although I'd expect this to retail at around £2k ?

3510 will be about £2500. Looks like a full width XM CD with the top loader in the centre.

So the Exposure XM CDP was on my shortlist.
I do have an option to compare it against a Rega Saturn which was an obvious step up from my Apollo, but I would have to travel to do so.
I am leaning to staying local and comparing the Saturn to whatever else Audio T has to offer.

I'd be looking at a pre-owned Rega Saturn. For peanuts, the Apollo-R is also excellent.

Went for an Audiolab 9000cdt in the end.
