I guess it depends. I usually check my manual bias once every 3 months. And on most occasions find that I don't need to adjust anything. But when I have to, it takes a good 15 mins per amp to get it all dialled in.If you fancy valve rolling (it's fun and sonically rewarding) and don't want to start messing with meters, probes and lethal voltages then I'd defo suggest an auto biasing amp.
It's actually quite important imo. I wouldn't buy another valve power amp without it.
Thanks, I’ll definitely do that.I connect my REL T5x subs to my PrimaLuna Evo 100 via the REL high level connection, and it makes the integration with the main speakers perfect as it sounds like the system is driven by one giant valve amp. So if you are using the line level inputs of the subs now, it might be worth experimenting with the high level inputs with a valve amp.
That’s interesting, I’m really happy with my RELs - what made you change to the SVSs?Thanks, I’ll definitely do that.
I had the same 2 subs as you before I got the SVS’s and used to run them via the high level input into the Lyngdorf.
Two reasons, I wanted something that went a bit deeper and was more powerful. I listen to a lot of dance music and reggae; quite loud (my man cave is at the end of the garden so I can play as loud as I want) and just felt the small T5i’s, good as they were weren’t quite enough. The SVS gave me that bit extra I was after. That’s interesting, I’m really happy with my RELs - what made you change to the SVSs?
