Hi

well i finally found an MC368-B902 18w set.

And very nice it sounds with the big kefs.

Drives them beautifully and with ease - the little vu meter hardly moves at decent listening volumes.

First impressions - the best match i have found so far, the best sound i have acheived.

Very musical.

Very nice to look at.

Very impressed - i'm enjoying tne music ( hopefully i can stop reading those sodding wam classifieds now!).

Many thanks to Mark and Phil at MingDa uk who were a pleasure to deal with.

Phil hand delivered he amp this afternoon and set it up for me.

Cheers.

Yes, it's a surprising little thing, isn't it?

I, too, just had some help from Mark and Phil ... top service from them!

Yep - i spent a fair time listening this afternoon to lots of different music.

I found that i coud lusten to more of it than with any hifi combination before.

I was actually very surprised at how nice it looks as well - photos don't do it justice.

Top amp. Top service.

I'm very pleased with mine - didn't expect 18w to sound quite as powerful as it does after the grunt of the XTZ but it manages with aplomb. Very musical to boot. I'll be rolling the signal tubes soon to see how that changes things, but very happy so far.

Let us know how you get on with the tube rolling.

That will be very interesting.

IME it seems to respond well to 'tube rolling' as I found no difficulty hearing changes with different valves. I tried replacing the Chinese signal valves with a couple of old Mullards my Dad found in the depths of his garage, and they did what Mullards seem to do ... lovely rich tone, bigger soundstage, but maybe less overt detail and somewhat laid back (maybe because the valves were well over 50 years old?). I also got hold of a pair labelled 'Conn', which apparently were rescued from old US 'electronic' organs. These are great, sort of treading a middle path between the supplied ones and the Mullards ... can't remember who makes them though (RCA?)
