I am thinking of doing something which i am not sure is sensible - but here goes...

I am thinking of putting a 150hz front loaded horn on the front of a MLTL cabinet. Inspired by the old Altec A7's etc but wanting to use a TL instead of a BR, as i prefer the drier sound.

My question is - front loading a driver changes the Qts of the driver -adding the mass of air in the throat, lowering the effective Fs. Can i use this to my advantage when tuning the TL, currently i am tuning around 40Hz, loaded higher Qts tune lower?

Found the information i was after, well sort of. In a A5 the Fs of the 515 drops by ~ 5hz, and as Fs is the only change determining Qts is straight forward. So it looks like adding a short horn similar to the Exemplar will allow me to tune the TL lower with the existing drivers. May be some time until i post again on this as designing a cabinet which utilises the cabinet volume behind the horn in a TL is not straight forward.
