Reluctantly selling my beloved pair of Tannoy Definition D700s

Purchased direct from Tannoy new in 1994, Immaculate condition as they have been fastidiously looked after by me since new. Grills cloths are also perfect, with no marks or any pulls. They come complete with floor spikes and hard cupped feet for hard floors. Also I am providing 4 new Tannoy foam bungs (Original packaging) with them.

Upgraded Crossovers completed on the HF network by Paul & Tannoy with CLARITY MR capacitors. Make an amazing pair of speakers sound even better than before. Upgrade completed in 2015 by Tannoy.

D700s are 72-Litre Enclosures & have 2 large rearward ports for restive cabinet tuning. Ports provide good 'in room' extension down to a measured 28hz. @ -6db

Placing foam bungs in both ports will remove approximately 3db of the Port tuning frequency ~ 30hz. This can be helpful if the speakers need to be placed near the rear wall to prevent any bass booming. a distance of 0.5m from both side & Rear walls will give the best response across the frequency domain.

Fabulous Dynamics form 10" Dual Concentric with 10" supplementary Bass driver.

The System has a relatively lower impedance than the nominal 6ohms, so a healthy power handling & high damping factor is recommended for partnering amplification for quicker transient response.

They D700 pair don’t have their original boxes. However they will be bubble wrapped by John at 'The Department of Music' which is where they are being kept.

These are pick-up only. due weight of 41kg each - 'The Department of Music' near Petworth GU28 0LG

info@thedepartmentofmusic.co.uk

The D700s were the SWEET SPOT in the Tannoy definition range. Today there is not much that will come close without paying 5 to 6 times the asking price.

Asking £1500 or closest offer!

Regards

Phil

You can see Phil has cherished these. Very nice and I'll wager they sound as good as they look.
