After common assault and drunk & disorderly, what a waste of a talent, think he's doomed to an early grave
Unfortunately I have to agree. Cannot deal with his demons it seems. After common assault and drunk & disorderly, what a waste of a talent, think he's doomed to an early grave
I don't think he did fulfill his talent as much as he could have - he could, and should, have been at the top of the game playing for the really massive clubs - the Manchester Uniteds, Barcelonas, Real Madrids, AC Milans and Inter Milans - and winning leagues regularly as well as European Cups. He was a supreme talent, but didn't quite get to the heights he should have. Less talented players have done better, because of a better attitude and application. Why is it a waste of talent? He fulfilled his talent as a footballer.Mental illness is not to be mocked or snapped out of but people love to judge, so there you have it.
If anyone knows exactly how or what he is feeling then feel free to give us a clue....
^ this :^He had a terrible injury remember. He was hobbling through the season with Lazio. There will always be less talented players who do better than the Rodney Marsh, Charlie George, or Matt LeTissier types. Jim Baxter was the same.......that is the package. Not what they could have done but what they did. You can't turn John McEnroe into Bjorn Borg
He did win leagues regularly with the club he chose to play for ........Rangers. Just as Englands best ever centre half did too.
Played fantastic for Rangers in a star studded team of International players. He also starred in Englands best efforts in World Cup under Sir Bobby Robson.
But that is my point about his attitude - his injury was self-inflicted by an incredibly dangerous tackle that could have crippled Gary Charles in the 1991 FA Cup Final, for which he should have been sent off. Yes, he was a superstar in the 1990 World Cup and the goal against Scotland in Euro 96 was just fantastic. I am not doubting he was one of, if not the, most talented footballers of his generation. He had a terrible injury remember. Agreed. It is not the waste of talent etc,as spoken of. He had a great life in football. It is his suffering since his career ended with depressive illness. He had the talent for the Hall of Fame. Instead it's infamy. I really feel sorry for him.
He isn't an "it" Rick, he's a human being who is in a lot of pain right now. It's just a footballer ffs. That in itself qualifies him as a knuckle dragging thick as shit drama queen on too much pay. I don't get football. I get the fans even less.
I'm not griping about that mate. He is a human being. Along with millions of other human beings suffering with mental illness. I just don't get why a sports celebrity gets more attention than anyone else. Same with George Best.He isn't an "it" Rick, he's a human being who is in a lot of pain right now.
