Went to see The Proclaimers at the new Glasgow Hydro last night, this is the sort of venue Scotland has been needing for a long time. In case anyone hasn't heard of it, it's a new 12,000 seater arena built next to The Armadillo and the SECC and it is just stunning. The sound system and acoustics are brilliant as is the view from anywhere in the arena. How we've managed to put up with the SECC Hall4 nonsense for 20 odd years is beyond me, this is what a modern large music venue should be like.

And how were the Proclaimers? Absolutely stunning, they had the place jumping by the end of the night. Charlie and Craig were at their very best, blasting through all the old favourites, closing the set with 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' and the show with 'Life With You'. The noise from the crowd singing the last few songs was incredible, my ears are still ringing this morning :rockin: .

I'm looking forward to seeing plenty more bands here in the future and hopefully never have to set foot in Hall4 ever again. Well done Glasgow, this venue will make sure all the big names will want to come and play here.

That sounds good. That's also the first I've heard of that venue. The filming of Sunshine on Leith is finished and the film is out now as well!

Indeed. Going to see Peter Gabriel at the SECC in about 1990 or so finished me altogether with big gigs in concrete barns. :nup: Utterly woeful. New venue looks like a big improvement.
