I won a photo competition over at DPreview!

I often enter pics for their 'challenges'...you don't win anything but it keeps me thinking and involved. Normally I come in the top half somewhere out of 100, which is great for me, but this!

this won 5/100 as a possible 1000 piece jigsaw image, and, in the same week,

Just pointing out chaps, that if I can do it, so can loads of you guys....try it for fun.

You'll have to join up and upload some images to your own gallery (just beside 'competitions' in the headings bar) and then it's easy. Also good fun being a judge for completed comps...simply do a slideshow of the finished competition and dial in some voting stars as the pics go by!

thanks chaps...the standard on there is quite high (for me) so normally I come maybe 30 - 50th??

Anyway. Maybe it's just one of those days but you should REALLY all have a pop, it's easy, fun and keeps you thinking photo wise I think.

It's a shame that our mini photo theme never really took off here because I do have the time nowI know and most don't, but I find it helps motivate me if there is a challenge.

The lens is Tamron's SP 10-24mm zoom. I love it and it's indispensable for stuff like this.

I like them both - for different reasons. I think the comp on here got a bit lost. Might be abetter idea for someone to pick a best of the week from al the pics on pic of the day. The winner then picks their favourite from the following week and so on. The winner might explain what he/she has done with it/details of how it was taken etc?

Either way well done John - merited success.

Excellent news and highly deserved, as all have said - they are great images.

I had a go a while back with the DPreview challenges, never won any, managed some top 10 finishes, but I got 'fed up' with the 'rules' that some of the challenges have.

As you say John, the standard is high and there are always lots of quality pics in the challenges, so once again, well done. :notworthy:
