Hi All

Thinking of getting a pair of these at a resonable price in today's market remember my dad having a pair he got from the tip back in 2004 those were the days Presuming the Magnum K tweeters won't fit are the originals easily sourced the pair i want to invest in currently has a non working tweeter hence the post any help would be appreciated i have fond memories of dad using them for PC usage the tweeter originals are the cone with a sealed inclosure if all else fails what would be a direct drop in replacement would need to be a pair? so dates are 65 to 69 could a DT3 be a suitable replacement?

Thanks

Anapeach do speaker and drive unit repairs. The owner is very knowledgeable and amenable and would be happy to talk you through your options.

All I can say is good luck - I’ve been looking for an original Maxim tweeter for over a year now!

There is no suitable drop-in replacement unless you drastically want to alter the speakers’ voicing, sadly.

Update they have arrived an yep one of the tweeters is indeed blown great shame seems originality is impossible to find non matched pair one early and one later this one has a grey alnico tweeter fitted @ 8 ohm - Looking to replace both tweeters to give them a sonic match i have seen maxims fitted with a DT 2 or 3 would these be suitable?

Ex BBC Maxims - They were well one was in an unoperational order up arrivel from a £135 eBay purchase - 1 tweeter was faulty the other was good so have sent it of to be measured to have a possible match to find but i did my own thing on these maxims and installed a 1973 pair of Dome DT'2's i just wanted to get them going as an on hand monitor for plug and play no thrills and i'm impressed with this mod upon listing on the arrived i found the original fitted alnico bright and scrill but these DT2's add a lovely warmth to the Maxim with the cas of up setting the purist if anyone needs to get a pair going this is the way to go unfortunaly orginatly is not key with these old maxims although the early tweeters are Audax in a seal inclusure they are hens teeth to find in working order next up the Caps - Nytech CTA 252 Receiver , Thorens TD 125 , SME 3009 , Shure V15 2 , Pioneer 505 Precision - Impressed they are to go on a shelf for shits and giggles 314833751_2077225075782230_3291123231542043206_n.jpg

Great news, Dan - glad they’re working and sounding good!

I’m being really cheeky here but if you have one original tweeter left over after the change, would you fancy selling it?
