Got a little cash to buy a budget tt system - any suggestions

I've always had a decent system in the past (Manticore Mantra, Marantz CD52SE, Audiolab 8000, ATC speakers are some examples of kit I've owned) but a house move and third child meant turning all of my toys (hifi, cameras and bicycles) into a deposit.

Got a little money (£400 initially) to put together a turntable based system in our main bedroom (20' x 14'). Any suggestions on what to buy?

Oh and I'd kind of thought I would split it £200 for the TT and £100 each for speakers and amp. Initially I'll only buy the turntable, a friend is kindly loaning me a Naim Nait 3 and Linn Saras with stands....

Are they that bad? Thought Naim were supposed to be good, never listened to one though....

Nait 3 utter garbage, by far the worst amp ever made by Naim, even worse than the 90/92. The Sara's would be OK on the end of a Naim 32.5/140 or an Exposure X.

The project debut carbon with 2m red cartridge that audio emotion have for £195 delivered would be a decent starting point.

I'll chip in with a Sony ES integrated amplifier £100-150...... lovely phono stages IMPE (equal to the £300 offboard variety). TT/Speakers knock yourself out on that front. Plenty to choose from.

Currently looking at a Systemdek with basik arm from the Forum and how about an Audiolab 8000a for amplification? Trying to track down a pair of JPW AP2's for speaker duty....

I've got some Wharfedale Diamonds II's in not bad condition if your interested, can get them to North side of Chesterfield during the week (work).

Or some Castle Durhams (original), if I decide to sell them.

Still waiting to hear about the systemdek with basik arm, do people think a MF A1 and MF mc5s would go well with it?

Also been eyeing up a panasonic A400 but not sure what type of speakers to look for with it.
