Is there a more uncomfortable headphone on the market?

I LOVE the sound they produce but half an hour and my ears are killing, even with the optional flat covers that replace the standard bowled/dished covers they are bad.

I only mention it because I bought a pair of panasonic £9.99 jobbies to plug into the guitar amp so I can practice in peace, and I can wear them for hours :shock:even watched a film with them on last night and didnt notice I'd got them on once I was engrossed in the film (The prestige BTW, awesome film

What are the alternatives to Grado's? (mine are the 325's) but that are comfortable to wear?

A lot of people seem not to be able to tolerate the Grado fit. Personally speaking I find them more comfortable than pretty much anything else. I don't like having foam pressed against my ears, so the domes make sense to me.

Alternatives? Lots. Sennheiser HD650. AKG. Maybe even Stax. I'm sure more will be mentioned by more headphone savvy people than me.

Cheers Alex, I know about the alternative makes and models out there, I was just hoping for an opinion on the comfort/fitting of them from peeps on here.

The cheap panasonics fit perfect, the cushion sits against my head with my ears inside without touching the coil/speaker foam thingy, lovely.

surrey, ,
If your finding them too tight you can actually bend the headband. I had to do this to mine, much more comfy.

What Andy^ said. A bit if fiddling about usually gets them to fit better, although I'm sure you've tried it.

I find mine (SR80's) extremely comfy, in fact they're more so than my HD650's (and they sound better imho)

I have some SR80s. Recently picked them up on eBay for only £78 brand new. Much better than my old Sennheiser HD400s. Personally I find them comfortable, but most importantly they stay on your head which the Sennheisers never used to do!

I find them very comfortable. I will say that the 325s are not quite as comfortable to me as the others in the Prestige range, due to the extra weight.

You can also get alternative pads to go on them, there's something called a 'comfy fit' if memory serves me correctly, plus I'm pretty sure you can mod them to get Beyer pads to fit too. Best to check out Head-Fi for the details because I'm not a Grado man myself so I don't want to steer you wrong, but if you like the Grado sound, try a few of their suggestions before changing cans.
