I rang Nottingham Analogue Studios for some advice yesterday, no one who could help was in but they offered to ring me today. Well got a call and spoke to Adam, he's a wealth of knowledge and very helpful with it. Advised on sensible upgrades for my TT (considering the rest of my system his advice was to maybe have the newer pivot and wiring fitted to the arm but leave the rest alone), all this for someone who bought secondhand, don't get this level of service often…….

To add to this. I just had the best possible experience with Audio Note. I recently bought a used AN Arm One and broke the anti-skate thread. Got in touch and they immediately responded with an offer to fix it for free. Fixed within 3 days of sending out and they are now shipping it back to me for free as well.

Really cant ask for or hope for more

Great Service, which deserves to be recognised, exactly the opposite experience I had with Creek (twice).

Cheers BB

Much as most of you recognise that I am an old moany git, I have to say that overall the standard of service I have received from hi-fi retailers is massively better than that from most others.

There have been one or two who have not been overly helpful. However, the vast majority have exceeded expectations by a big extent.

I think in this hobby we do sometimes have unrealistic expectations, yet many retailers manage these.

FWIW, BD Audio and RJC Audio (Jack and BobC) I cannot comment on, as I do their websites, so I'm obviously biased and they are obviously wonderful people, close to God in every respect and I would have their babies given the chance. Plus, I would obviously advance sexual favours, lend them things, etc.

As for the rest. To be fair, apart from one or two (not in open forum), the advice, service and enthusiasm has always amazed me.

Not directly Hi-Fi, but related. After being messed around by some local suppliers, I got brilliant advice and then service from http://www.aerialsandtv.com/index.html in Sheffield, when I bought am fm dipole aerial to put in my loft. The website might be a bit mad, but its packed full of useful info, and he people are really helpful.

Careful. Given the way Bob goes on about his lad sometimes you might find him tied up on your doorstep if news of this offer gets out.

Another one for Penny and Adam at Notts Analogue. After buying an ex-dem Dais with the wrong arm-board (and admiitedly buying a new 12" Ace Anna tonearm afterwards), they exchanged the arm-board for the bigger one f.o.c. Since then, a few enquiry calls have been met by a very helpful 'cottage industry' type response. Likewise, a friendly personal service recently from E.A.R. in St. Neot's.

The same service was, and, I believe still is, available from Michell Engineering. In fact, the only parts of my system that are not British are the cartridge (understandable) and the CDP, which is Italian.

Exactly the same happened to me, and it was entirely my own daft fault breaking the thread when I was buggering around with the counterweight.

They even provided me with a second counterwight to modify. It was truly amazing service that went way beyond what i ever would have expected.

I was seriously impressed at their customer service and which means I will be looking seriously at new audionote products in future when upgrade-itis strikes.

I have had good service from many manufacturers but the ones that stick out are Exposure, Whest, Sugden & Goldring. Nice to be able to heap some praise on rather than having to moan :)

Audio Note's service is second-to-none whether you buy from them direct or have bought their kit secondhand.

They are very reasonable with their charges for repairs and Martin Grennal is extremely generous with his time and helpful when it comes to any enquiries you may have.

It doesnt get better than this!

God bless the badgers! :notworthy:

Kevin and Lynn Scott @ Definitive Audio / Living Voice. Always go above and beyond to support their customers - highly recommended.

another thumbs-up for Audio Analogue, Italy. years ago I happened to own a Puccini SE, which w/o any prior notice just went belly-up burning half down due, as it appeared later to be the case, to down-rated diodes in the PSU. as our AA dealer cared not about my complaint that the failure was a common issue with that generation of the Puccini, I decided to contact AA. they replied in hours asking for my address - and sent me a then-newcomer Puccini Settanta integrated free of charge. I was positively shocked by their generosity - though the new amp, being the very 3rd piece that went out to the market, was making popping sounds when changing inputs, so it went back to AA. they returned an other Puccini Settanta in a week, but that overheated itself right after 5 mins service. apparently, the failure was caused by a solder joint making a short circuit (QC?), but the amp survived this, and upon removing it the Settanta performed flawlessly ever after until I sold it. nevertheless, those guys truly were helpful, and more :) glad they're still manufacturing great products, and that the press is always praiseful about them :)

Surely you are overlooking that Quad Electroacoustics LTD are a Taiwanese owned company and that your 2905's are manufactured in China !

A big thumbs up for Paul at Hi-Fi Lounge and PMC. For taking the time to sort out and send me out some spares for my Bryston. Which arrived 2 days later free of charge, top stuff.

Must give a mention to Nick at UKD. Unison gear repaired and serviced at reasonable cost always patient and helpful.

UNLIKE SOME OTHERS I COULD MENTION but let's not go there. Many wammers will guess who I'm talking about.

I would like to express my thanks to Simon at HifiSound (Stockton) for going the extra mile, (and through the Tyne Tunnel as well). Not only did give me a better part exchange for my Monitor Audio GR60s, than any other Hifi company, against a pair of Ushers, and a new Audio Analogue Amplifier, he also agreed to deliver them, and collect my MA's. He also put together the Ushers for me. Making all connections to ensure everything was ok.

A lot more service than the insulting way I was treat from a certain Hifi company who shall remain nameless.

(local people will know who I mean  ).

A further thanks to EAR at Cambridge. Who supplied a manual for an Amp I was selling to a fellow Wammer, at No Charge. I had put mine somewhere safe, but could not find it  .
