Recently I read the white paper on the ‚Kii Three‘ , which immediately reminded me of Grimm Audio - and in fact Bruno Putzeys (KII‘s CTO) previously worked for Grimm Audio. Hence it is no surprise a lot of ideas behind design and approach sound familiar.
A couple of years ago, when I was in the market for new speakers I did audition the Grimm LS1 at home and was mighty impressed, I have to say.
On the other hand it all seemed to depend on a small group of people and you never know how long these small companies will be around, so I didn‘t puck them.
I have yet to listen to the KII Three and I assume it will sound great but I guess I would have the same concern.
Since the departure of Bruno not too much seems to have changed in terms of innovation at Grimm Audio. Basically the same speaker (with little
modification) is offered today.
They added a streamer though, labeled MU1. However when looking at its display, it very much reminds me of the ‚Streamunlimited‘ engineering company, an Austrian supplier that is (was) used by a number of audio companies such as Musical Fidelity, Project Audio and others (and they all had this type of display).
Does anyone have any insights whether my assumption is correct about Grimm Audio using Streamunlimited?
